TICKETWET’S JAMAICA JAM (article first published : 1999-06-6)

Jamaican Jam, which opens on June 8 at the Glenwood Old Boys Club, marks a first for Durban in terms of booking facilities as Themi Venturas Productions leads the way by using the revolutionary new ticket reservation system TicketWeb for his new show.

“Themi wanted to make life as easy as possible for his potential patrons to book their tickets so he is giving them a couple of different ways of doing this,” say the show’s publicists, the award-winning company Publicity Matters.

For those with access to the Internet, tickets can be booked through TicketWeb which is on-line 24 hours a day. At the cost of a local call, you can make a phone booking using your credit card via TicketWeb’s Call Centre on 0860 400 500.

"There are options of ticket collection at outlets, the theatre box-office on the night of the performance or there is a door-to-door courier service for a nominal fee," said Carl Johnson: Manager Sales and Marketing for TicketWeb. “There is also a direct sales option at 30 Musica stores countrywide. In KZN, they are stores at present at the Workshop and Pinetown with more Musica stores coming on board soon. “

To book for Jamaica Jam, either use TicketWeb or, for block booking, phone Themi Venturas Productions on (031) 21-9242. Individual tickets can also be purchased from Themi’s Berea office on the same number.

Jamaican Jam is a lively ensemble production which celebrates the culture, legends, anecdotes and music of Jamaica with hits by Bob Marley, the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, UB40, Billy Ocean, Peter Tosh, Eddie Grant and friends. Directed by Peter Court, it is run as a supper theatre package and tickets include a theme dinner and show.

Jamaican Jamruns at Glenwood Old Boys Club, 12 Radar Drive, Durban North, over the mid-year holiday period.
