RAPSODI IN PINK (article first published : 2007-10-11)

The Hexagon Dive is to host Rapsodi in Pink on October 19 and 20.

All-female singing group Rapsodi will present a show of easy-listening popular light music, sung in close harmony. Under the musical direction of Helen Vermaak, whose last show Rock Rattle 'n Roll was a sell-out success, this show uses songs from as far back as George Gershwin to as recent as the songs of Josh Groban and Celine Dion. Old favourites such as The Carpenters, Simon and Garfunkel, Barry Manilow, The Beatles and Barbra Streisand are represented, as well as songs from movies such as Flashdance and Mahogany.

The cast includes Adele van Vuuren, Petra Byloo and Lisa-Claire Garden with Helen Vermaak at the piano. These ladies are all familiar to 'Maritzburg audiences through their appearances with various choirs, groups and in shows such as íS Wonderful, amongst others.

The show promises to be a relaxed evening of good music with interesting arrangements sung by some of Pietermaritzburg's most talented singers.

Rapsodi in Pink runs in the Hexagon Dive, Hexagon Theatre, on the UKZN Pietermaritzburg campus on October 19 and 20 at 19h00 for 19h30. Bring picnics but no drinks, there is a cash bar. Tickets R30pp or R25pp for a table of ten booked on 033 260 5537 or e-mail hexagon@ukzn.ac.za
