THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN (article first published : 2007-07-21)

The Boys Are Back In Town pays tribute to the legends of rock ‘n roll like never seen before at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway. The show features a five-piece boy band whose members are all young, sexy, talented and can dance.

The dynamics on stage are different to other Barnyard shows as the boys are all on stage at the same time, making this a high energy show. They cover the hits from numerous decades with ease making this a show that has wide appeal.

The show features songs by Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, George Michael, Elton John, Def Leppard, The Beach Boys and many more. The Boys revive these rock and roll classics with a fresh approach and make songs like Pretty Woman, I’m A Believer, Cotton Fields, Love Is All Around and Light My Fire sound brand new. They also get the house rocking with more modern classics by Blue, Westlife and Will Young, and even throw in South African numbers with Johnny Clegg’s Impi and Great Heart, Bright Blue’s timeless anthem Weeping, and Afrikaans classics such as Steve Hofmeyer’s Pampoen and Kurt Darren’s Loslappie.

So, whether you are a Cliff Richard or Elvis fan from the Fifties, a Beach Boys or Beatles fan from the Sixties, enjoyed Grease or Elton John in the Seventies, or Def Leppard or Wham from the Eighties; whether you are wild about Boyz II Men or Westlife from the Nineties; or a fan of Will Young or Blue from beyond 2000, this is the show for you!

The cast includes the five good-lookers Ernie St Clair, Guillaume Willemse, Arthur Bosch, Cavin Sewell and Jarrid Odendaal on vocals while Bronwyn Evans adds a colourful touch of humour and keeps the boys in line.

The band comprises Calli Thomson on keyboards, Josh Thatcher on guitar, Benoit Grigaug on bass guitar and Shaun Reyneke on drums.

The Boys Are Back In Town runs from August 14 to September 22 Tickets R100 pp Wednesdays to Saturdays (R60 pp on Tuesday night and Sunday matinee show. Bookings thorugh the Barnyard on 031 566 3045 or e-mail gateway@barnyardtheatres.co.za
