MASTERS OF ROCK – VOL. 3 (article first published : 2007-06-24)

Once again The Dockyard Supper Theatre pays tribute to the all time greats of the rock genre. Masters of Rock – Vol. 3 which is currently running at the Dockyard’s Musgrave Road venue.

After the highly successful and popular Volumes 1 and 2 of Masters of Rock, in which rock acts such as Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep were all featured, this time round, Stuart Mey and his team offer The American Chapter.

Volume 3 salutes the American rockers such as The Doobie Brothers, Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, The Eagles, Aerosmith and many others; all done with the authenticity that Dockyard shows have become famous for. In keeping with the authentic vibe, The Doobie Brothers’ songs will be performed using two drummers as do the real Doobie Brothers.

Another feature of Masters of Rock – Vol. 3, is the welcome return of young guitar whiz Chris Brink who made his debut at The Dockyard at the age of 16. Now at 18, he is back and playing up a storm. The senior partner in the lead guitar department is veteran rocker ‘Uncle’ Gerald Knott.

The majority of the vocals are handled by tall and talented Albert Bristow, whose treatment of the Bon Jovi numbers will definitely cause a few hearts to flutter. Other vocals are handled by Dockyard regular, Andrew Jones, who spends most of the show behind the drums when he is not “up front”.

If the response to the previous two Masters of Rock shows is anything to go by, Volume 3 should be a sell-out as well, so book early. Phone Karen on 031 201 9147.
