TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT (article first published : 2007-04-11)

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway presents Tonight’s The Night, a tribute to the greatest male vocalists of all time, from April 17 to May 27.

Featuring a star-studded cast (also the title of a Rod Stewart hit) brings audiences the magic of every male icon in the popular music industry, starting off with Frank Sinatra and ending with Robbie Williams. There is something for everybody and Tonight’s the Night will have audiences mesmerised as it spans the music of Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Roy Orbison, Chris De Burgh, Elton John, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and George Michael, amongst the list of hit-makers. The show’s line-up includes Quando Quando, Crazy Thing Called Love, Piano Man, Everything I Do, Purple Rain, Do Ya Think I’m Sexy , Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me Tonight’s The Night and Copacabana.

The talented and diverse cast consists of Clinton Philander and Kyle Grant on vocals, James Dobson and Sean Butler on keyboards and vocals, Adrian Beecham on guitar and vocals, Ringo Nduzo on bass guitar, Colin Heaney on drums, the rose amongst the thorns in Rike Coetzer on saxophone and Michael Magner joining her on trumpet.

Tonight’s The Night is not only a tribute to the greatest male vocalists, but also some of the greatest music of all time.

The theatre will also stage two unplugged shows in the first week of the Tonight’s The Night’s run by Arno Carstens, one of South Africa’s most revered vocalists, on April 18 and 19. Seating will be as for normal shows, with no standing room.
