PARKER SHOW EXTENDS (article first published : 2000-07-23)

Currently running in the Playhouse Cellar is You Might As Well Live directed by Brenda Lauth. The show was first presented in 1995 at the Square Space Theatre at the University of Natal Durban when it featured Belinda Harward as the younger Dorothy Parker with Catherine Farren playing “Dottie” (as she was called) as an older woman. Since then, the script has undergone a major re-write to its present format.

The show again features Belinda Harward as the legendary writer, columnist and satirical poet Dorothy Parker with Michael Gritten as her colleague and constant companion Robert Benchley and just about every other man with whom she had a relationship.

Originally due to close on July 30, the show has now been extended to August 5 with performances from Wednesday to Saturday. Tickets at R95 include a three-course meal. Book at Computicket. (See review on these pages)
