BAROQUE 2001 (article first published : 2001-03-15)

The popular chamber music group Baroque 2001 launches its new season of eight concerts with a programme of Bach and Telemann on Sunday at 11h15 at St Thomasís Hall, Musgrave.

Popular Dutch conductor Arjan Tien, who is in Durban to take the podium for the final three concerts of the KZNPOís Summer Season will perform the solo viola in Bachís Brandenburg Concerto No 3. The other work on the programme will be Telemannís Concerto for Two Horns.

Future events include Vivaldiís Gloria with the Drakensberg Boysí Choir in Music in the Mountains from April 27 to 30. This will be followed by performances at St Thomasís Musgrave on May 6 at 11h15 and at the Church of the Monastery, Marianhill, at 19h00 on the same day.

The subscription fee for Baroque 2001ís eight concerts is R266, with the price of an individual concert ticket costing R38. More details from director Michel Schneuwly on (031) 312-5539 or email: sursouth@iafrica.com.
