ELTON JOHN: ONE NIGHT ONLY (article first published : 2000-12-23)

Elton John has become a legend in his own right. M-Net features the man behind the memorable Candle in the Wind in Elton John: One Night Only on December 31 at 18h00.

Elton John: One Night Only, which was taped at New York City's Madison Square Garden, features this multi-talented artist performing some of his greatest hits culled from his expansive 30-year career as one of rock's reigning piano men. From early hits like Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road, Daniel, Benny & The Jets and Candle in the Wind to more recent chart-toppers like Can You Feel The Love Tonight and The One, Elton John's live concert performances have been heralded around the world for both their auditory and visual delights.

The most successful rock pianist in the world and one of history's greatest rock stars, Elton John has been redefining popular music for the last three decades. A renowned composer, lyricist and singer, he has released almost 40 albums and written film scores for Disney's box-office blockbuster The Lion King working with lyricist Tim Rice and Dreamworks' The Road to Eldorado. The Lion King was subsequently turned into a smash hit musical on Broadway. Working again with Rice, John recently earned an unprecedented four Tony Awards for his second Broadway musical, Aida.

Co-performers at the spectacular event include Mary J. Blige, Ronan Keating, Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Anastacia and Kiki Dee.
