OBJECT OF DESIRE (article first published : 2000-10-27)

Pietermaritzburg-based Music Revival will present An Object of Desire : The Cello on November 5 at 11h00 at Wedgwood in Hilton.

“Romantic and passionate, lyrical and sublime, the cello is the most noble of instruments,” says Music Revival founder, well-known pianist Christopher Duigan. “Caressed by the bow, the strings spring to life resonating infinite richness.”

In a recital exploring aspects of this appealing instrument's vast repertoire cellist Heleen du Plessis and pianist Anneke Lamont perform a varied programme. Currently making waves in Johannesburg and Pretoria with their committed and impassioned performances of Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata, they promise a fascinating concert with a Spanish flavour with a programme of well-known cello favourites and exotic Baroque composer Francouer.

Booking essential. Tickets at R40 include coffee and snacks. To book phone (033) 342-3051 or e-mail chris@musicrevival.co.za
