After a short break in the Pietermaritzburg-based Music Revival headed by well-known pianist Christopher Duigan is back with an international celebration for its August programme. All concerts take place at Wedgwood in Hilton.

Diva! Bel Canto is the title of a performance by soprano Angela Gilbert who will visit Pietermaritzburg before taking up a contract at the New York Metropolitan Opera. The concert takes place on August 4 at 19h30 and tickets at R60 include a glass of wine on arrival, coffee and biscotti.

For her second programme Diva! On A Sunday on August 6 at 11h00, Angela Gilbert shifts the focus toward religious music and delicate Baroque with the possible inclusion of items from her Friday programme Also included is Liszt's transcription for solo piano of the final sextet from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor played by Christopher Duigan. Tickets at R50 include coffee and scones.

BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1996, Polish-born Rafal Payne-Zambrzycki has an impressive CV for a 22 year-old. In 1996 he toured Great Britain as the soloist with the Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Lord Yehudi Menuhin and performed at the Royal Albert Hall in a Gala Concert celebrating Lord Menuhin's 80th birthday.
