GUITAR SHOW EXTENDED (article first published : 2000-07-15)

There is now an extra week in which to see Themi Venturas' high-energy new family stage musical The Guitar that Rocked the World. The run of this “rockin' and rollin' celebration of the much-adored Fender Stratocaster guitar” at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre has been extended to July 30. Staged in association with East Coast Radio, the play has been extended as tickets are going fast with many performances virtually sold out. Those wishing to see the show are advised to book early while seats are still available.

Themi has captured a sense of the allure, influence and obsession of the Fender Strat with the help of a great band made up of Barry Thompson (guitar), Martin Sigamoney (keyboards), Mali Sewell (drums) and Glen Turrell (electric bass) with Glen's son Andrew Turrell and Colin Peddie on guitar. Frank Graham plays the creator of the guitar Leo Fender and the aspiring young rock star is played by 16 year-old guitar whizz Rowan Stuart. The production has been written and directed by Themi Venturas with Barry Thompson as musical director and Peter Court as set designer.

Tickets at the door or booked through Computicket. For credit cards call (031) 304-2753. Save on booking costs and book directly on the internet at http://www.computicket.com. More details from Themi Venturas Productions on (031) 201-9242.
