GUY BUTTERY RETURNS HOME (article first published : 2008-08-18)

Following the success of his tours abroad, well-known guitarist Guy Buttery returns home with his guitar in one hand and sitar in the other for a tour set to astound audiences of all ages and preferences. He will give performances at The Red Door, Phansi Museum and The Zulu Jazz Lounge.

Having just returned from a successful UK tour, playing alongside bands and artists such as Martin Simpson, Andy Fairweather Low, Jethro Tull, the Animals and Donovan to name a few, it is clear that Guy Buttery is carving a name for himself across the globe. His most recent album, Songs from the Cane Fields has been cited as “the most diverse and intriguing fingerstyle album in recent memory”, by the reputable Guitar Player magazine.

He has also received critical acclaim from world renowned guitarists such as Will Ackerman, Richard Leo Johnson and Pierre Bensusan.

Guy Buttery appears at The Red Door, 5 Quarry Road (off Victoria Road), Pietermaritzburg, on August 30 at 19h30. Tickets R40 booked through 084 555 3112.

He will perform at the Phansi Museum, 41 Cedar Road (entrance opposite 517 Frere Road), Glenwood on September 4 at 19h00. Tickets R50 booked on 031 206 2889.

His appearance at The Zulu Jazz Lounge in the Playhouse Cellar on September 6 at 19h00. Tickets R40 booked on 031 304 2377.
