MR PRICE MUSIC AT THE LAKE (article first published : 2008-08-9)

Another great Mr Price Music at the Lake Concert is scheduled for August 24 so come and enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon with family and friends in the Durban Botanic Gardens. Appearing for the first time at the DBG picnic concert series, guest artist Louise Carver will perform with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra.

One of South Africa’s most popular musicians, Louise Carver began writing songs on the piano from the age of 11. She released her first single at the age of 17 and has continued to release numerous top 10 singles. She has performed in the UK and sang and co-produced Silent Scream with British producers Lindsay Edwards. She also performed at the 46664 Mandela Concert alongside many international and local artists. Saved by the Moonlight which was released a year ago has some of South Africa’s finest musicians supporting her on this album.

For the concert with the KZNPO, she has chosen to perform a few of her own compositions such as Empty Fantasy and Impossible Love from her Silent Scream album.

Conductor Lyk Temmingh has selected a mix of easy listening and popular tunes to complete the afternoon’s programme such as the Paul Simon Medley, the haunting melody from Caravans and a Tribute to Satchmo. Included in this selection, Louise will sing Johnny Clegg and Jaluka’s Spirit of the Great Heart and Fields of Gold written by Sting.

The concert takes place on August 24 at 14h30. Tickets R80 (R60 seniors & scholars aged 13 to 18 and R20 children aged six to 12) booked through Computicket.

Tickets also available at the Info Centre in the Botanic Gardens (credit cards accepted - sorry no cheques). Once patrons have purchased their ticket, they can visit www.durbanbotanicgardens.org.za to enter a competition to win a Louise Carver CD
