SEETHER LIVE IN SA! (article first published : 2008-06-4)

5fm is proud to present Seether Live in South Africa this June! The SA-bred, LA-based Rockers are finally returning for their highly anticipated four-date, countrywide tour which includes Durban.

The internationally acclaimed band, which last played here in 2006 with Metallica, Collective Soul, Simple Plan and The Rasmus, head home at the tail end of their extensive European tour, with highlight performances at Germany's Rock am Ring Festival and England's Download Festival.

"I love coming back to SA to play shows. I always feel so proud walking out onto a stage with SA fans in front of me. It's a different audience. It's very powerful. It's very emotional performing back home. I love it," explained front-man Shaun Morgan Welgemoed.

Seether won their first SAMA award earlier this month for Best Rock Album, after their latest offering Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces received nominations in three coveted categories (Best Rock Album, Best Group/Duo, and Record of the Year). The album, easily their strongest and most innovative one yet, displays the hard rockers' new outlook on life and music. The album's lead single, Fake It, hit the No.1 spot of 5fm, and spent 34 weeks on the US charts, including eight weeks at No.1, and remains in the Top 20. Rise Above This, the latest single, is currently No.1 on the Modern Rock charts (nine weeks on!) and charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Since moving to the USA, Seether has become one of the top rock bands in the world. The sonically superior band, (front-man Shaun Morgan, drummer John Humphrey, bassist Dale Stewart, and former lead guitarist Pat Callahan), captured the attention of music fans across the globe, with their 2002 Gold-selling US debut, Disclaimer. A reworked version of the album, known as Disclaimer II, then went on to reach Platinum status when the single Broken became a Top 20 hit. 2005's Platinum-certified Karma and Effect, further cemented the bands star status, debuting at No.8 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, while the album's first single Remedy topped the Billboard Rock charts for eight consecutive weeks, and was the most played song on US Rock Radio in 2005! Troy McLawhorn (formerly of the bands Dark New Day, doubleDrive, and Still Rain) joined Seether as a touring guitarist earlier this year, following a stint as Evanescence's replacement guitarist during their last tour.

With their epic riffs, thunderous rhythms and catchy choruses, Seether has the world spinning perpetually to music fuelled by passion, played with conviction and intent, satisfying an edgy rock craving as they have proven; only they can!

Seether appears in Durban on June 20 at The Wave House, Durban. Tickets are on sale at Computicket. (Other dates are June 15 in Cape Town; June 16 in Johannesburg and on June 21 in Port Elizabeth. For more information, visit www.5fm.co.za or www.musketeer.co.za
