FRANK N STYNE (article first published : 2008-05-19)

The Holy Family College is to present the musical parody Frank n Styne from May 22 to 24.

Written by Larry Hillhouse with music by C Michael Perry, this is the first time this musical has been performed in South Africa (not to be confused with the three-hander Frank n Stein which featured David Dennis, Anthony Stonier and Ellis Pearson). Frank n Styne will be directed by Farla Ribbonaar and performed by a talented cast of 20.

Franklin Kenneth Styne inherits an old castle from a distant relative (Frankie N Styne). Upon arriving, he finds that he also inherited a Styne Castle staff! A hunchback experimenter, talking portraits, a cook and a maid as well as a local constable and his beautiful niece. After finding the Log of Frankenstein this causes hilarious consequences! The musical contains such toe-tapping numbers as A Mazing me, Castles Are So Hard To Dust and Its Alive!

Frank n Styne runs at Holy Family College from May 22 to 24. Tickets R25 per person. There will be a picnic theatre performance on May 24 when tickets are R30.

There will be a special schools performance on May 22 at 11h00 at R10 per learner (book early to avoid disappointment). Contact 031 205 5083 for bookings.
