JOSIE FIELD TO SUPPORT JAMES BLUNT (article first published : 2008-05-4)

East Coast Radio and Big Concerts have announced that singing/songwriting phenomenon James Blunt will be supported by South Africa singer/songwriter Josie Fields on his forthcoming tour of South Africa.

This is a major feat for one of South Africa’s brightest talents who has a unique, low register voice and a fierce stage presence that belies her normally calm and understated exterior. One glimpse of her live on stage with her full band should convince any viewer that there is way more going on here than a folk artist strumming an acoustic guitar. Josie will perform on May 26 at the Juventus Grounds (Botanic Gardens), Durban.

Having released her promising debut album Mercury in 2006, Josie has gone from strength to strength - achieving enormous chart success with her hit singles Every Now and Then and 10 Years, which both reached #1 on both national and regional radio charts. Josie has also been nominated for Best Solo Artist for the MK awards and has enjoyed successful international tours – including the much talked about Poppkomm festival and a stint in London.

Josie Field is set to release her anticipated second album in May 2008 – to coincide with a national tour.

The Durban performance of James Blunt’s tour on May 26 will be hosted by East Coast Radio and tickets will be R300 (excl. service charges). Tickets are available from Computicket on 083 915 8000.

Other performances will be May 24 at the Coca-Cola Dome, Johannesburg, and May 28 at the Grand Arena, Grand West Casino & Entertainment World in Cape Town. For more information on upcoming concerts, check out: www.bigconcerts.co.za
