MATHYS ROETS SINGS CAT STEVENS (article first published : 2008-02-28)

Widely respected for his vocal prowess, popular South African artist, Mathys Roets will release Cat Stevens: Very best of. Due out in March this is a memorable tribute to one the 60s and 70s most influential singer/songwriters.

Already Mathysí first live performance of Cat Stevensí music, held in Centurion, has proven to be a resounding success with tickets sold out well in advance of the show.

According to Mathys, Cat Stevensí music also represents a very poignant time in his life. ďAs a student and struggling artist I used to perform nine of Catís songs; they became an integral and very personal part of my repertoire. It is, therefore, with fond memories that I now, more than a decade later, can pay tribute to the music that meant so much to me early in my career,Ē he says.

Cat Stevens: Very best of will feature some of his most popular songs that include Moonshadow, Morning has broken, First cut is the deepest and Father and son.

Visitors to the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival (KKNK) can also look forward to music from Cat Stevens. Mathys will perform Cat Stevens: Very best of at the festival which takes place from March 21 to 29 in Oudtshoorn and tickets are available from Computicket.
