KRAKATOA AND FRIENDS (article first published : 2008-01-30)

Local band Sitter has enjoyed a long-standing gig at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom’s Krakatoa, performing regular gigs with a host of other well-known bands and comedians. On February 7, Sitter goes a tad edgy in a line-up which includes The Goubutt Soldiers and Troye the Hip Hypnotist in this Krakatoa and Friends regular gig.

The Goubutt Soldiers is a local acoustic rock band that has earned a great following over the last few years and has developed a unique sound described as "mellow sixties surf rock with a touch of funk and blues".

Troye the Hip Hypnotist is rated as one of South Africa's funniest comedy stage hypnotists. For over a decade Troye’s stage hypnosis show has consistently attracted large audiences. His breathtaking magical comedy hypnosis show has wowed crowds at the Barnyard Theatres, Carnival City, as well as big corporates such as MTN, Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz.

Sitter will round up the evening with a rocking performance. The band enjoyed a successful 2007 which included the release of their second album, some great radio play, high profile shows around South Africa and a tour to the United Kingdom. Various songs from their second album entitled This Masquerade Called Life have achieved excellent chart success on radio stations across the country and the album is exclusively available at Rhythmic Beat stores nationwide.

Jeff Martin, the live music reviewer of the popular Durban entertainment website Amplify, recently reviewed a Sitter show and commented that "Sitter's timing is consistently speedy, and the entire band manages to maintain their breakneck pace with no fatigue in sight, it’s always great to watch a band having fun on stage, and Sitter does this while maintaining themselves at the very top of the punk rock scene".

Tickets for Krakatoa and Friends are R30 available at the door or by booking through the Sibaya Box-Office on 031 580 5555.
