GLENWOOD COMMUNITY WEEKEND (article first published : 2007-11-14)

The proactive Glenwood Community Forum will present a busy weekend of music, civic, carols, sports and spiritual events in and around the thriving suburb of Glenwood on the weekend of November 23 to 25. The programme includes a concert by The Durban Menís Choir and a Carols in Glenwood concert.

On November 23 at 19h00, The Durban Menís Choir will perform as part of the Durban Girls High School 125 yearsí celebration in the school hall in an event supported by Hoffmann and Associates. The choirís repertoire ranges from musical-theatre favourites, arias, powerful and uplifting hymns, popular classics, iconic South African numbers and some instantly-recognisable contemporary tunes. Sharing the programme will be the DGHS Choir and the evening incorporates a thanksgiving ceremony to honour the schoolís proud 125 year history. Tickets R35 booked from DGHS on 031 274 2700.

On November 24 from 18h30 until 20h30 there will be Carols in Glenwood at Glenwood Prepís Little Wembley Field. Held in conjunction with Hope Church, Durban, it will feature the school choirs of Glenwood Junior Primary School, Penzance Primary School and Glenwood Prep School with the Colin Vincent Band. Take along a blanket, picnic basket and deck-chair. Entry is free and all are welcome (tickets are limited to a capacity of 1300 Ė so arrive early!) Carollers are invited to bring gifts of toys and non-perishable foods for the Salvation Army Cato Manor Christmas Relief Project.

Glenwood residents are invited to bring along a R100 to any of the events and sign up to become part of the proactive Glenwood Community Forum. More information at www.forum.glenwood.co.za
