LUNA LOUNGE LINE-UP (article first published : 2007-06-29)

Luna Lounge at Botha’s Hill is rapidly developing itself as a popular venue for live music.

On June 30, there will be a Blues Evening from 17h30, celebrating Blue Moon in good ol’ fashion blues style. Tickets R30 for an evening of warm moments with fantastic jazz and blues artists.

The Meditators & Rolling Thunder Review & Friends will perform on July 1 from 17h00 to 22jst July 5pm – 10h00. The Meditators promise audiences an evening that will “blow their sox off with their ability to bring Reggae to your senses”!

Steve Fataar & Anti-Gravity will perform on July 7 at 17h30.

Dave Goldblum will appear on July 8 at 17h00. Entrance R40. Dave Goldblum has played extensively both locally and abroad in his 25 year career as musician, and recorded five albums of his own with a variety of South African and international artists. His music can be described as a fusion of jazz, folk and African – a style that he has made uniquely his own. His music is original, distinct and a truly South African experience. He has supported acts such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jennifer Ferguson, and has played with Steve Newman, Tony Cox and Syd Kitchen. Outside South Africa he has played in Cornwall (UK), Austria and Switzerland. At a recent joint concert in early 2007, rock and folk master Shawn Phillips described Dave as ‘one of the best singer-songwriters in South Africa’.

Luna Lounge will host the community upliftment project Ubuhle Buyeza and Guests on July 14. Entrance R25. The project incorporates music, song and dance, steering street kids from crime to music. This will be their fifth event at Luna Lounge and this dedicated and hard working group deserve much support.

Coming up in August, back after many travels overseas, will be Nibs van der Spuy who performs on August 3.
