MAKING MAGIC (article first published : 2006-11-14)

Making Magic, Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom’s festive season show, features Philippart & Anja. The highly-acclaimed internationally celebrated illusionists will present a daring spectacle of mind-boggling acts and illusions at the iZulu Theatre from December 1.

Directed and choreographed by Jared McKenzie, this show combines elements of song and dance in a colourful extravaganza of magic and illusions with special guest artist - South Africa singing sensation Jae.

The show is a rollercoaster trip through the magical and nail-biting otherworld of illusions – and guarantees to have audiences on the edges of their seats.

Speaking from Las Vegas, Philippart said “Anja and I are so excited about coming to perform in South Africa, and especially in Durban as we had such an awesome response to our Sun City show. We have no doubt that Durban audiences will really enjoy the madcap adventure of illusion that we present.”

Renowned for their off-beat, totally off-the-wall and outrageously spellbinding illusions, the two have clocked up hundreds of accolades and awards from around the globe over the 20 years they have been performing together. With an international reputation firmly entrenched in the world of magic and illusions, the two are constantly in demand as performers as well as consultants to other illusionists and to present their work at international magic conventions.

Their status as first class international illusionists has meant they have appeared in major centres around the world as well as on countless television shows and as guest artists for hundreds of other productions. The two have almost made Monte Carlo their home as they are in great demand there, having performed regularly at the Theatre Princesse Grace, the Sporting Club (home of the World Music Awards) and the Monte Carlo Casino, and also for the Royal Family.

Making Magic runs at Sibaya from December 1 to January 21 with performances from Wednesdays to Fridays at 20h00 and on Saturdays at 17h30 and 20h30 (Sundays at 15h00). Tickets R90 (R120 over weekends) booked through Computicket or Sibaya Box-Office on 031 580 5555.
