KZNPO TO ROCK YOU! (article first published : 2006-07-7)

The Durban City Hall will rock to the sounds of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra on July 16, when audiences will be treated to some of the best music to come out of the 60s and 70s in a Philharmonic Rock concert.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Kloof and sponsored by Miladys, the Orchestra will be conducted by Richard Cock and will feature two outstanding soloists, Joseph Clark and Veronique Lalouette.

The evening's programme includes such classics as Crazy Little Thing Called Love; Mr Bojangles; Im A Believer; All I want for Christmas; Every little thing she does is magic; Wind beneath my wings and La Vida Loca. Orchestral numbers include Entry of the Gladiators; a medley from Grease, YMCA and Broadway Showstoppers.

American born and raised, Joseph has spent the last 20 years working on all the major stages in South Africa. He has become widely known for his powerful and entertaining interpretations of Queens music and other theatrical highlights include The Fantasticks, West Side Story, Buddy Holly, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. He recently returned from Europe, where he left his new German and Italian fans screaming for more.

Since her debut as a singer in the entertainment industry, performing jazz at the tender age of 14, Veronique Lalouette has been busy as a performing and recording artist. She has performed internationally from the Seychelles to Taiwan and made it to the finals of the 2005 Idols competition. Since that competition she has been busier than ever. This will be her debut with the KZNPO.

Marketing manager Janet Welch said, the KZNPO is proud to once again work with the Rotary Club of Kloof, especially as all proceeds from this concert will go to charity. We also applaud Miladys for supporting this concert and the charitable works of Rotary.

Tickets cost between R60 and R75 each and are available only through Computicket. The concert starts in the City Hall at 17h00.
