TO BROADWAY AND BACK (article first published : 2006-04-9)

Kate Normington, one of the country’s most talented, accomplished, respected and charming musical-theatre divas who is currently appearing in Mercury Rising, is escaping the city bustle to perform her To Broadway and Back programme for one weekend only in the Nottingham Road Landowner’s Association Hall on April 21 and 22.

Kate Normington has excelled right across the theatrical genres, having starred in drama, comedy and musical productions across South Africa. Considered to be one of South Africa’s finest stage performers, she is best known for her lead performances in such musicals as The Rocky Horror Show, My Fair Lady, Grease, Hair and many others.

She has also had great success in the UK performing in such musicals as Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love, Into the Woods and Annie in the West End.

To Broadway and Back is her latest one-woman show offering an exciting blend of numbers from the musicals; Kate’s special brand of humour; some jazz standards and some of her favourite tunes. Her extraordinary talent, coupled with a fine choice of music and gentle humour makes this a theatrical treat which seldom reaches the smaller towns

Her programme includes such favourites as You Must Love Me; As If We Never Said Goodbye; All That Jazz; Don't Cry For Me; Whistle Down The Wind; Broadway Baby; Memory; Seasons Of Love and You Can Always Count On Me.

To Broadway and Back will have performances at 20h00 on April 21 and 22 at the Nottingham Road Landowners’ Association.

Tickets R80 available on 084-674-4607 or by email on eventmasters@mweb.co.za
