LOVE JONES (article first published : 2006-03-23)

ďRock Ďn pop roll is going to be the new genre of music to look out forĒ, says the band Love Jones with the release of their selfĖtitled debut album and video, to be launched at Wilsonís Wharf on April 3.

The hardworking band has been in the studios for seven months coming up with an album that they believe will be on a par with international music standards. Their first single, You get your kicks is already gaining airtime on various radio stations and emphasises the bandís raw power. The video for this is explosive and vibrant. The follow-up single entitled Little Easier shows the bandís diversity.

Love Jonesís first two major gigs were last yearís Splashy Fen and Mr Price Pro Concerts. Both opportunities got the band wide coverage from two diversified audiences at very different venues.

Love Jones plans to travel around South Africa and play as many gigs as possible while launching their debut CD. Their launches have been designed along the waterfront theme and this has taken them to various waterfronts around the country including Randburg, Victoria & Alfred and Wilsonís Wharf. In March they were the opening act for Clout. Thereafter, they will do an acoustic set at the Ballito Cinemas on April 2 before going on to Splashy Fen after which they embark on their nationwide tour.

The band comprises four well-known Durban musicians: Esjay on the lead guitar and vocals. Peter on guitar, Steve on bass guitar and Mike on drums.

Love Jones will launch their self-titled debut album and video at Wilsonís Wharf at 21h00 on April 3. Wilsonís Wharf will be transformed into an airy scenic venue that is safe for everyone, youngsters included. Love Jones will perform two sets and will socialise with the audience after the gig. Entrance is free.
