GUITAR & MANDOLIN (article first published : 2006-03-9)

On March 16, Omri Hadari makes his final appearance for this season of the KZN Philharmonic’s World Symphony Series. He leads the KZNPO in an exciting programme that features Australian guitarist, Craig Ogden and leading mandolin player, Alison Stephens, both of whom will make their debut with the Orchestra.

The concert opens with Rossini’s La scala di seta (The silken ladder) Overture. The musical programme then travels through orchestral eras from Vivaldi’s Mandolin Concerto to Rodrigo’s evocative Concierto de Aranjuez, and concluding with Dvoøák’s ever-popular Symphony No 9 “From the New World”.

The concert takes place at 19h30 on March 16 in the Durban City Hall. Booking is at Computicket. Click on the KZNPO’s banner advert for a direct link to their site.
