RMS ALBUM LAUNCH (article first published : 2005-12-25)

On December 30 at the BAT Centre from 20h30 to 22h30, the funky reggae band RMS from Johannesburg kicks off their national wide tour in Durban. The album is called Kun Faya Kun and the band is fronted by Ras Jah Ali, Mr Gunjamen and Supreme.

RMS is an abbreviation for Ras jah ali Mr ganjaman & Supreme. The group came together early in 2003 and with a short period recorded a single Still which was released in 2004 and later recorded other songs which make up their first album entitled Kun Faya Kun which when translated means “Be … and it is”. This album features eight solid songs and two remixes. Copies of this album (CDs & cassettes) will be sold at venues during RMS's live performances.

RMS was formed in 2003 and Kun Faya Kun is their first album. RMS was nominated for 2005 Channel-O African Music Video Awards for their song, Amakhampani. So far, RMS has independently shot three music videos currently running on Channel-O (M-Net), SABC1 & e-tv. The videos are for the songs Still, Unkulunkulu unamandla and Amakhampani.
