ROBBIE WILLIAMS (article first published : 2005-11-13)

The sensational hit-maker Robbie Williams will embark on a three-date national tour of South Africa, as part of his upcoming 2006 World Tour.

Robbie’s latest album, Intensive Care, has just been released to critical acclaim, and is already climbing the local charts, going Gold on the day of release. Showcasing his undeniable talent and diversity, the album was released with a live show in Berlin on October 9. The show was a one-off, never to be repeated special, which was filmed for the first ever Europe-wide cinecast in high definition and surround sound. A first in music!

For five years in boy-band Take That, and the last eight years as a solo performer, he has produced a constant stream of nearly 30 hit singles. His 1997 debut album, Life Through A Lens, was certified 7 X Platinum in the UK, with his follow-up I’ve Been Expecting You reaching an incredible 9 X Platinum! These were followed by the multi-selling albums Sing When You’re Winning and Swing When You’re Winning.

Escapology, Robbie’s fifth album and the first to top five million sales, brought his running total to 20 Platinum Europe Awards!

With smash hit singles like Angels, Rock DJ and Feel, Robbie Williams has sold over 40 million albums world-wide and received numerous awards. His massive world-tour in 2003, including three days at Knebworth (hailed as the biggest open-air shows ever staged in the UK), saw him perform to over 1.2 million ecstatic fans. The Live At Knebworth album became the fastest-selling live album in UK chart history. Likewise, What We Did Last Summer became the fastest and biggest-selling music DVD of all time!

The roguishly handsome entertainer works his crowds with real emotion and consummate skill, belting out hit after hit. He does ballads, funk, anthemic rock, and even shifts down a few gears into good old swing!

Robbie Williams’ Durban appearance is tentatively scheduled for April 10 at the Absa Stadium. Book at Computicket from November 19 at 09h00!
