THREE TROMBONES & ONE TUBA (article first published : 2005-10-11)

It’s not ‘76 Trombones’ but three trombones and one tuba make for a fascinating concert to be presented by Music Revival in Hilton.

Exploring a new chapter in the repertoire of music for brass instruments, four young musicians from the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra play three trombones and tuba in a wide-ranging and entertaining repertoire of music. Music by Renaissance master Gabrielli, plus a James Bond selection, Gershwin numbers, and a West Side Story medley get a new make-over in the hands of these enthusiastic performers.

Demonstrating the range of the instruments, the dynamic ‘musos’ include talented and cool Ross Butcher, now studying in Switzerland, and the KZNPO’s International star studded lower-brass section.

The hour-long Sundowner Concert takes place at the Nineteen Degrees Gallery in Hilton on October 18 at 17h30. Tickets R50 includes wine.

Nineteen Degrees Gallery is situated at 486 Celtis Road in Hilton. From the Crossways/Quarry intersection take the second right off Howick Rd. (more information at www.nineteendegrees.co.za)
