ZACKíS LIVE ROCK (article first published : 2005-08-20)

For one night only Durban rock fans can enjoy local talent performing at Wilsonís Wharf on August 29 with bands such as Squeal, Spoon Feedas, Star Player, Love Jones and 33 making an appearance.

Taking over from the usual open mic evening, Zackís have decided to host a number of local bands and inviting rock music enthusiasts to enjoy the bands while sitting in the enchanting environment that Wilsonís Wharf offers. They are utilising the whole of the restaurant area for this evening with the stage in the enclosed area on the far side of the wharf. This allows for a larger area for tables and chairs to be set out.

Squeal fans can look forward to a fantastic evening after David Birch and the rest of the teamís absence from stage appearances for a while. David Birch has been busy with his recording studio and supporting upcoming artists in the area.

Spoon Feedas are no stranger to Durban at the moment after having performed at Vodacom Beach Africa last month and delighting fans with their stage presence. Spoon Feedas are currently promoting their second album.

No stranger to the airwaves are 33, with their single Out in the Sun doing very well on local radio station, East Coast Radio. Star Player, having also blasted the crowds at Vodacom Beach Africa, have been busy in the studio recording their first album but listeners will notice a number of their singles that have had the privilege of air time.

Newcomer Love Jones is also currently recording their first album and is a band to look out for. Esjay, their front woman who has had a single out prior to Love Jones forming, stated; ďThe evening is basically about Zackís and the city, Durban wanting to raise the benchmark for South African Music as an overseas venue!Ē

The concert kicks off at 18h30 and there is a R20 cover charge. An added attraction is that there are R10,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
