SAINTS OF BLISS (article first published : 2005-08-7)

Internationally-acclaimed, KZN based rock band Saints of Bliss, have written an AIDS awareness anthem and dedicated it to the underprivileged and sickly. The song titled For the People is a haunting reminder of those less fortunate and ailing, who live amongst us.

“Naturally their objective is to raise awareness of this plight and assist in fundraising for Aids benefit organizations” says a spokesperson for GreenBox Productions, their management.

Brothers Dave and Jono Quinton, the core of the 3-piece rock outfit have just finished mastering their second album, featuring the song ‘For the People’.

More than a rock band, Saints of Bliss stands for a generation of young people rebelling against the forces of society. Their new hit single Born on the Wrong Side that will shortly debuting on the airwaves.

Fans can hear them performing alongside other well-known local band Prodacall who hail from Amanzimtoti and have played on stage alongside the likes of Spoonfeedas. They support the awareness campaign wholeheartedly and in particular, on this occasion for Shepherds Keep.

Colin Pratley (some may remember him from his Freedom’s Children’s days) will also be performing his amazing drum routine – single-handedly on 60 drums.

The Concert at the Square takes place at Umhlanga Rocks Drive (La Lucia Office Park) at 19h00 on August 19. The event is sponsored by Music Inc and there will be a minimal entrance fee.

Saints of Bliss will be selling a limited edition of the single For the People at the concert and proceeds will be donated to Shepherds Keep, an AIDS orphanage on the Bluff. Saints of Bliss will soon commence their schools tour - watch the press for more details.

Equipment, staging and services for this AIDS fundraiser for Shepherd’s Keep have been donated by Music Inc at The Square, Black Coffee, GreenBox Productions and Tanya van Agthoven cc Public Relations. More information from Colin Prattley at Shepherd’s Keep on 031 366 6106 or Tanya van Agthoven on 082 747 9738.
