DAA LUNCH-HOUR CONCERTS (article first published : 2005-06-28)

The popular Durban Arts free lunch-hour concerts are up and running again – presented on the City Hall Steps at 12h45 on Wednesdays. The line-up for July is as follows:

July 6: IDLOZI – (Afro and Marabi). This group is led by the talented Nstokovane who provides lead vocals supported by three female vocalists. They perform numbers sung in the Mkhumbane era backed by a five piece band.

July 13: ALIKHO (gospel). The leader of this group is Alikho from Clermont Township. She is supported by a band and two backing singers.

July 20: KWAMASHU GUMBOOT DANCERS. This dance group is made up of ten talented youngsters from KwaMashu. The group is supported by a concertina player and a singer.

July 27: ABABEKEZELI. Led by Mr Zakwe, this is an energetic dancing and singing Umxhoba’nyawo outfit from eNtuzuma backed by a six-piece band.
