VODACOM BEACH AFRICA CONCERTS (article first published : 2005-06-21)

An integral part of this year’s Vodacom Beach Africa will be the array of live music concerts happening on Durban beach front with the Vodacom Beach Africa Winter Jamz and the Mr Price Concerts held nightly from July 1 to 9.

The Mr Price Concerts this year have a flood of national talent and the cream of Durban’s bands performing on their stage. There is a strong following of “soft rock” in South Africa and this line-up will be only to sure to satisfy the avid of listener’s ears. As the sun goes down the music will start to fill the air for the crowds to enjoy.

Opening up the festivities on Thursday is DJ Coco Loco, followed by Jae, Black by Nature, Brown Dash and Danny K & Mandoza. Friday sees DJ Siyanda up on stage first, with Love Jones, Nibs Van Der Spy, Cutting Jade, The Parletones, Wonderboom, Watershed and Prime Circle performing. Saturday ends off the concerts with DJ Reddy D, Star Player, Sevenstone, Deluxe, Bed On Bricks, Hog Hogidy Hog, The Finkelsteins and The Springbok Nude Girls.

More sundowner sounds can be enjoyed prior to the Mr Price Concerts. The Vodacom Beach Africa Winter Jamz line up will be from July 1 to 6. Unlike last year’s themed evenings, this year appeals to everyone on the same programme. Music from Hip Hop to R ‘n B. Gracing the stage will be DJ Jazzy D, Ghetto Lingo, Izinyoka, Khalil, Mr Selwyn, Pro Kid, TSO, Mario, DJ Paper Kut, Will B, DSK and LOC. Apart from the music line up, the well known Xclusive Break Dancers will also perform, teaching the crowd a thing or two about how the body can be moved!

The public are encouraged to join in on the evening festivities. Bring a picnic basket and blanket and settle in on the evening while wrapping up warmly and listening to the fantastic live music that Vodacom Beach Africa brings you. All the concerts are free.

Catch the Mr Price Concerts from July 7 to 9 on North Beach and the Vodacom Beach Africa Winter Jamz from July 1 to 6 in the Radio Village.
