DCO OPENS BLUES (article first published : 2005-05-24)

The Durban City Orchestra under the artistic direction of Philipp Maier will be opening this year's first ever "Blues Festival" at Durban's Wilson's Wharf with a spectacular line-up of mixed pop, rock, classical and blues numbers on May 24 at 20h00.

The widely mixed programme includes favourites like Robbie Williams Angels and I will talk and Hollywood will listen, Cher's Walking in Memphis, the Symphonic Suite from Lord of the Rings, Beethoven's Egmont Overture or Elton John's Don't let the sun go down or the St. Louis Blues.

Soloists include Cedric Vandenschrik - well known to Durban audiences from various Barnyard Theatre Shows - especially here from Cape Town to feature in the show.
