TWEAK (article first published : 2005-04-30)

Edgars and 5fm in association with Big Concerts have announced that Tweak has been confirmed to support Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne, during her upcoming Bonez Tour. The tour kicks off on May 8 in Johannesburg, before heading to Durban on May 10 and on to Cape Town on May 13.

Pop punk band Tweak took the SA music scene by storm in 2000 with their hit singles Sweet Memories and Buy The World. They were four boys with the right idea, attitude, talent and conviction to change the face of South African music. Their hits Friends; Birthday Card; Sweet Memories; Buy the World and House Party have ruled the SA charts.

They have been nominated for a Channel O Music Award, been named K-TV's "Best Punk Band", The Blunt Magazine award, “Household Name” for 2002, Top band in the country by SL Magazine, My Top SA Band Barney Simon and 2002’s hottest up and coming stars by You Magazine. Adding to this astounding array, Tweak have also been featured on MTV Europe and Australia where they have played high profile concerts and festivals.

Having supported internationally renowned bands Wheatus and The Naked Apes, they were the obvious choice as support for Rock & roll “wild child” Avril Lavigne!

Avril’s tour follows the huge success of her second album, Under My Skin. The Canadian superstar hit the music scene at 17 with her hits Complicated, and Sk8er Boi off her debut album, Let Go. The album went on to sell more than 14 million copies worldwide, and received eight Grammy nominations!

Avril Lavigne’s performance in Durban will take place at Westridge Park Stadium on May 10. Booking is at Computicket.
