JAMALI & REDD-ANGEL (article first published : 2005-04-21)

Redd-Angel (aka Jerome Martin), South Africa's answer to the call for quintessential cool, and Jamali, the local R &B group that is currently topping the charts on all radio stations across the country, will perform at Krakatoa, at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom at the end of April.

Jamali has been described as the hottest group to hit the South Africa R & B scene in years. Comprising Jacqui, Mariechan and Liesl, the groupís ear-catching combination of R & B combines Zulu and English lyrics resulting in some sure-fire radio hits. Jamali is all about great music, beautiful voices, pin-up looks and performing abilities. Their first single The Greatest Love is a beautiful-on-the-ear showcase of the girlsí gorgeous voices and their ability to wrap themselves around a song that is evocative and irresistible. Jamali perform live at Krakatoa on April 28. Tickets R50.

Enticing, engaging and immediate, Redd-Angel's Cape Flats roots give his music a level of realism and honesty seldom heard today. Having started out as part of a group, Redd-Angel has prepared himself in the past year for the release of his Fabulous Vol. 1 album. Produced at Gosh Studios in Austria, Fabulous Vol. 1 was moulded under the watchful eye and ever-critical ear of the song's creator. The mix of influence and styles make for an album filled with R&B, hip-hop, pop and smatterings of jazz blended together. From up-tempo beats to emotional ballads, each offers the Redd-Angel vocal signature and song-writing credibility. Redd-Angel performs live on April 29 and 30. Tickets R80.

Doors for all shows open at 20h30 and performances start at 21h30. Bookings can be made through 031 580 5555.
