SITTER (article first published : 2005-04-4)

Sensational pop rock outfit, Sitter are about to launch their debut album entitled Based on a True Story on April 16.

Highly influenced by the likes of Coldplay and Blink182, these four musical wizards will impress as they deliver everything from volcanic punk-pop to ballads.

The Durban brand comprises Edan Latzelsberger (bass, vocals), Matthew Burgess (guitar, backing vocals), Gary Wolno (guitar) and Adrian Arlt (drums). In October 2003 they were the main support for Rainshine during the Durban leg of their tour. In December of that same year, they performed again during the Durban leg of the Headline tour which features Tweak and Cutting Jade. In 2004 they were runner up in RP Studios Emerging Bands and their single Georgia was included on the Crucial Cure Prepare to Party CD. Their song Breakup # 2 was featured on the Splashy Fen 2005 CD and they played at Splashy Fen on the Heineken stage. In May this year they will perform at this year’s Thundertown, raising the curtain to two international acts.

“Sitter is essentially a rock outfit but with their musical proficiency spanning adult contemporary, punk rock and indie, they have a mass genre appeal; a guarantee to have different age groups “shouting it out loud,” says their publicist, Tanya van Agthoven.

This will be evident as their debut CD Based on a True Story offers the full spectrum from the foot stomping My Work Is Not Done to the sad beauty of Beautiful Life. The CD is produced by the Sound Factory’s Philipp Maier who is also the musical and artistic director of the Durban City Orchestra and who plays keyboards on this album.
