BRONWEN FORBAY (article first published : 2005-03-19)

Baroque 2000ís new series starts on Easter Sunday, March 27, at St Olavís church, St Thomas Road at 15h00.

The concert features the fine South African soprano Bronwen Forbay in Bachís cantata no.51. Bronwen graduated from the University of Natal before continuing her studies on a Fullbright scholarship at the Manhattan school of Music where she obtained her MMus degree in 2002.

Now studying at the College Conservatoire of Music at the University of Cincinnati, Bronwenís future engagements include the role of first niece in Peter Grimes at the Santa Fe opera in July. She is one of 20 singers from 14 countries selected to take part in the Unisa singing competition next month.

The other works in the programme are Handelís Suite in F major and Bachís Suite no.2 in B minor in which the flute soloist will be Evelien Ballantine.

Tickets at the door or from Computicket, enquiries to Michel on 031 312 5539 or at sursouth@iafrica.com
