FIDDLER ON THE ROOF AUDITIONS (article first published : 2005-03-12)

Auditions for Fiddler on the Roof, the 2005 Unilever Young Performers’ project scheduled for the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre in July, takes place on April 16 at the Playhouse Theatre fifth floor rehearsal room.

Fiddler on the Roof follows the last four successful UBR Young Performers Musicals, Curtain Up, One Voice, Grease and last year’s Oliver! Dickens’s timeless tale of an orphaned boy – all productions have taken place at the Elizabeth Sneddon theatre over the July school holidays.

Production Manager, Linda Van der Veen of Snazzi Events will again have a strong professional team on board with Themi Venturas (director), Peter Court (choreographer and assistant director), Charon Williams-Ros (vocal director) and Dawn Selby (musical director), with Jackie Cunniffe and the Elizabeth Sneddon Team.

The auditions take place from 10h00 to 12h00 on April 16 at the Playhouse, Smith Street, 5th Floor (enter through the stage door in Acutt Street).

Those that get through the first two rounds on Saturday, will be expected to stay till around 18h00 for the final auditions. Successful applicants should then be available for casting on April 17 at the Catalina Theatre, Wilson’s Wharf from 13h00 to 17h00.

Auditionees must be between 13 and 18 years old, able to speak English and be at high school. They must have a passion for performing and must be able to sing, dance or act as this is a musical. They must be available to attend weekend rehearsals until the show opens on July 8 and be available to rehearse every day from June 25 to July 8.

Auditionees must also be available to do the show every evening and weekend from the July 8 to 24.
