COLIN PENN TSUNAMI FUNDRAISER (article first published : 2005-01-9)

“I doubt whether there is anyone that does not feel a desire, in one way or another, to help those many unfortunate people that suffered as a result of the Asian tidal wave,” says popular Durban entertainer, Colin Penn. “Unfortunately, many want to do something, but for one of many reasons, just do not get around to doing anything and the moment slips by.”

Colin has arranged a free hall, free artists, free publicity and free Computicket surcharge for a performance to take place on January 16.

He has asked the artists from his last three shows, The Rat Pack, Mama Leonie's Singing Waiters and Liberace to join forces with him and his band to offer top entertainment for two hours for the price of a R50 ticket.

“Every cent will go to the fund and with a full house we can raise R50,000 in the one show,” says Colin. “As Churchill said 'never in the field of conflict etc etc ', this time it is 'never before in history have so many needed so much'. So don't procrastinate. This is for a life and death cause and wonderful people have donated their facilities and services free of charge to allow you to 'do your bit'.”

The Colin Penn Tsunami Fundraiser will take place at the Durban High School on January 16 at 16h30. Tickets R50 booked at Computicket or at the door (if you want to take a chance). Refreshments will be available and there is plenty of parking.
