SPRING SYMPHONY IN KLOOF (article first published : 2004-09-14)

Thomas More College, the Durban City Orchestra and ex- SA cricketer and Sharks player Errol Stewart, present a Spring Symphony” in a top musical line-up on September 19.

This fundraising concert will provide a “symphonic” first in Kloof, with a choir of 600 children from 11 different schools around Durban including Berea West Senior Primary, Pitlochry, New Germany Primary, Kloof Senior Primary, Winston Park Primary, Queensburgh Girls, Mowat Park High School, Marion Ridge Senior, St Benedicts, Parkside Primary, Gelofte College, and Thomas More College.

Conductor and soloist Philipp Maier brings his musical magic and vision to life, with soloists Melanie Roberts and Cedric Vandenschrik with , Zola Blose and Pumla Mpanza making their their debut at the concert.

The programme offers music for the whole family with an eclectic mix of music from Vangelis’ Conquest of Paradise to the music of Queen – classical to rock. Special guest Errol Stewart will attend the concert and give away three signed cricket bats! There are also other surprises in store! Bring blankets and picnic baskets.

The concert takes place on September 19 at 14h00 at Thomas More College, Sykes Road, Kloof.

Tickets R30 (R15 pensioners orchildren/R5 children under 12) available on the day or at the school. The concert is an official Fundraiser for the DCO, a philharmonic community orchestra that receives no funding. The concert will happen regardless of the weather, as a marquee will be provided.
