NIBS & GUY AT BAT (article first published : 2004-04-22)

The great Nibs van der Spuy and young prodigy, Guy Buttery will join forces for an intimate show in Durban at The TransAfrika Express (at the BAT Centre) on April 25 for an evening of acoustic dreams.

Fresh from their awesome concert as the invited guest at Splashy Fen this year, the two will perform tunes from their albums which were both nominated for national awards, as well as doing new material from Nibs's soon to be released Sweet-thorn album with the late, great Gito Baloi and other new compositions from his latest release with Barry van Zyl (from Johnny Clegg's band).

Guy Buttery, who has been called "SA's greatest prodigy" and "...the most exciting player I've seen in the last ten years, who is destined for greater heights", by the Daily News will be performing pieces from his album When I Grow Up... which was nominated at the South African Music Awards in the "Best Instrumental album of the Year" and "Best Newcomer for 2002" categories. At the tender age of 20, Guy already has a huge following, having performed all around the country at prestigious events, theatres and festivals.
