KZNPO WSSS (article first published : 2003-12-23)

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra is gearing up for yet another year of glorious music. The World Symphony Series Summer Season 2004 boasts an exciting programme and will run from February 26 to April 1 featuring six concerts in total. The venue will once again be the Durban City Hall with it's unrivalled acoustics.

Popular Maestro En Shao returns to lead the first three concerts of the season with respected conductor Nicholas Uljanov taking the baton on March 18. Soloists for the season include celebrated South Africa pianist Jonathan Oshry, gifted Irish violinist Darragh Morgan and leading South African cellist Cobus Swanepoel.

A highlight of the programme is the Gala Concert on March 25 featuring four eminent singers from the renowned Norwegian National Opera, under the baton of Terje Boye Hansen. The programme features a myriad of opera masterpieces from, among others, Verdi, Puccini and Bizet.

The finalised printed programme will be mailed in early January, but subscription bookings can be made from now. Subscribers will continue to have first option on their previous seating and they can enjoy notable discounts for bookings of four concerts or more. The KZNPO has managed to keep the ticket price increase to a minimum. Individual block prices range from R130 to R45 (R30 Students).

Subscription Discounts include: bookings of six concerts (20% discount); bookings of five concerts (15% discount), and bookings of four concerts (10% discount).

More information from 031 369 9404 or email: kznposub@iafrica.com The mailed brochure will include a booking form, but one can also be faxed to you upon request.
