ISIGCINO ESAMI MUSICAL (article first published : 2003-08-20)

Artists Productions theatre troupe in association with the Stable Theatre presents Isigcino Esami Musical; a Zulu language set work for grade 12 learners. The show runs at the Stable Theatre for one week only from August 25 to 29.

Durbanís up-coming director and actor Skhumbuzo Nsele adapted and directed the musical from a novel Isigcino Esami written by SG Zulu. The story is based on a love story of a young university student (Thoko) who falls in love with a fellow student (Sfiso). When he proposes marriage, she is overjoyed. However, she forgets the promise to her father that she wouldnít marry and leave the family before paying him back for her university fees. When her father refuses his permission, Thoko loses her mind and attempts suicide.

Directed by Skhumbuzo Nsele from Kwa Mashu who has performed in most of Eager Artists performances such as Mine Ghosts, Free Birds and industrial theatre performances. He has also been involved in a number of radio drama productions. The show features a cast of 12 talents performers from Durban and surrounding areas with Mxolisi Nyashenge as Sfiso and Sibusisiwe Ngubane as Thoko. Sandile Mpungose provides piano accompaniment and choreography is by Eager Artistís Buyani Shangase.

Isigcino Esami Musical with vibrant music and dance, aimed at educating grade 12 learners doing Zulu Language set work is not to be missed!!

There will be a special performance for Zulu language teachers on August 21 at 12h00 and two performances a day (10h00 and 13h00) from August 25 to 29 for learners at the Stable Theatre, 115 Alice Street (corner of Russell street and Alice).
