MUSIC ON THE DECK (article first published : 2003-04-9)

On April 11 from 18h00 at the BAT Centre, the Music on the Deck programme features the Njeza's Trio giving music lovers the opportunity to listen to top-calibre Afro-Jazz as they enjoy the autumn sunset over Durban harbour.

The lineup comprises Njeza Dlamini (band leader/guitar and vocals); Sphelele Dlamini (flute) and Mandla Mngabhi (percussion/vocals). Njeza's Trio has performed widely in Durban and surrounds and appeared on Channel 2's Morning Live slot.

On April 13 at 15h00, Music on the Deck hosts the popular Gerald Sloane Quartet. Familiar to all Durban music-lovers, the group features Graham Saville on xylophone, Peter Bosse on bass, Dave Marais on drums and group leader Gerald Sloane on guitar.

Music on the Deck sessions are a collaborative effort between TransAfrica Express and the BAT Centre. All sessions are free of charge to the public.
