LANDSCAPE PRAYERS (article first published : 2002-11-19)

There are two opportunities in November to catch Durban’s foremost Afro-Celtic acoustic band – Landscape Prayers.

Landscape Prayers also performs at the NSA Gallery in Bulwer Rd on November 22. Doors open at 18h30 and the music starts at 20h00. Snacks are available and the couvert charge is R30.

Landscape Prayers is known for its wide range of musical influences which produce a distinctive boundary-breaking sound rooted in African acoustic yet blending Celtic, blue grass, swing and oriental styles in to a unique original hybrid.

Add to that the combination of Celtic-Italian folk-rock and you have a package that will definitely be stretching the limits of musical perception. Landscape Prayers is one of Durban’s most loved and respected bands – performing a wonderful repertoire of original acoustic work. The band comprises Nibs van der Spuy (guitar); Logan Byrne (upright bass), Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby (violin) and Bruce Baker (drums).
