SALTY DOG (article first published : 2002-11-10)

The Durban Folk Club will feature the band Salty Dog on November 11. The current band line-up is Gordon Jackson (guitar, vocals), Dave Atkinson (guitar, vocals), Smelly Fellows (bass) and Steve du Plessis (drums).

Salty Dog is well-known in Durban and the surrounding areas and has built up a reputation as a hard-working, professional and entertaining party band. Although primarily a rock band, their repertoire is varied, ranging from the 60's to the present and includes various genres such as rock, country, rock and roll, blues and pop.

As they say: “Salty Dog believes in entertainment and guarantees fun and festivities! “The Dogs” do not play to be ignored - they bark - that means no bossa novas, no tangos, no waltzes, no "granny music" no "boy band" ballads - and definitely no disco, rap or techno.”

The Durban Folk Club now meets at the Durban Wanderers Club, 42 Benson Road, Montclair. Music starts roughly at 20h00 and there is a R10 cover charge for non-members, who are welcome, and a bar is available.
