JOANNE ROZARIO (article first published : 2002-10-21)

Popular clarinettist Joanne Rozario, who developed a firm following in Durban for her sensitive interpretations, is currently visiting South Africa for a brief spell with the KZN Philharmonic.

Now playing for the Northern Ballet Orchestra in the UK Joanne will be joined by Boris Kerimov (cello) and Christopher Duigan (piano) to play one Brahms most popular compositions, the Clarinet Trio in A minor Op 114. Brahms composed the trio and the accompanying Clarinet Quintet Op 115 in the last years of his life after hearing the clarinetist Richard Muhlfield, whom he excitedly described as "the greatest wind player live". The programme also includes shorter work by Saint-Saens and Piazolla's Le Grand Tango.

Sponsored by Wedgwood Nougat, the concert will take place on October 29 at 19h30 pm at Howard College Theatre on the University of Natal Durban campus. Tickets R40. Bookings through Music Revival on 033 342-3051 or e-mail info@musicrevival.co.za
