ULRICH SUESSE FREE CONCERT (article first published : 2001-08-22)

The University of Natal School Of Music’s free lunch-hour concert tomorrow (August 22) takes place in Howard College Theatre on the campus of the UND. Presenting a programme of audio and visuals from Stuttgart will be professor of composition, Ulrich Suesse.

Ulrich Suesse had his basic musical training in Composition in Germany and USA. In 1973, he became the first composer to teach at the University of Natal, starting what is now known as the Gerald LaPierre Electronic Music Studio.

In 1976 he moved to Stuttgart to join the staff of the Musikhochschule. Over the years he has composed about 90 pieces, most of them using electronically-guided sounds. About ten of these works are collective compositions with Jürgen Bräuninger, David Mason, Oliver Prechtl, Matthias Schneider and Rainer Wehinger.

The concert begins at 12h15 and the public is welcome to attend.
