MUSIC DAY (article first published : 2001-06-20)

Since 1982, the French people celebrate music in the first day of Summer with La Fête de la Musique on June 21. The idea is to raise the concern of the general public for music. In France everybody is allowed and invited to play music or sing in the streets whether being professional or not.

Like last year, the Alliance Française de Durban is organising something special in Durban for this occasion with Music Day on June 21 from 17h00 to 23h00. Bands are invited to come and perform on two stages to celebrate this special day. Each of the bands will have 20 minutes maximum. All categories of music are welcome. The result will be a wonderful patchwork of sounds.

Entrance is free and there will be a cash bar. A French main course at R15 can be served and booking for this is compulsory on (031) 3120-9582.
