SUNDAY AT HOWARD (article first published : 2001-06-2)

Pietermaritzburg's Music Revival launches two new 70-minute concerts for Sunday mornings on June 3 and 17 at 11h00 at Howard College Theatre in Durban.

This is a new venture for Music Revival, presenting concert performances rather than café performances in Durban. These events will focus on Ludwig van Beethoven and Dmitri Shostakovich and will include informal introductions to the music. Musicians will be the Kerimov Trio - Russian musicians Elena and Boris Kerimov (violin and cello) - and Christopher Duigan (piano).

Works performed on June 3 will be Beethoven's Trio Op 1 No 1, Shostakovich's Preludes Op 34 for Violin and Adagio from Ballet Suite for Cello.

The programme for June 17 features Trio No 2 by Shostakovich, Beethoven's Sonata for Violin "Spring" and Sonata for Cello in A Op 69.

Tickets R25 (discounts for pensioners and students). Howard College Theatre is situated on the campus of the University of Natal, Durban. There is safe parking.
